Android 13: Which Samsung phones will receive the update?

Android 13 has been officially released on August 15. This means that many Samsung smartphones can also look forward to receiving the update to Android 13 and thus, also One UI 5. Fortunately, Samsung's firmware guidelines are exemplary and transparent in nature. Therefore, it can be pretty easy to accurately predict which Samsung smartphones will receive the Android 13 update. NextPit will also share here whether your smartphone will reeive One UI 5.

As you might know at this point, the South Korean company guarantees at least four years of major Android updates for its flagship smartphones, and up to five years of security updates for its new devices.

After Google released Android 12 in October 2021, the Palo Alto company was faster this time with version 13 by releasing it in mid-August. For Samsung, not much should change in the process compared to last year. According to Samsung's update history, the first devices that will get the new One UI 5 features will be the Galaxy S22 series and the most recent foldable devices. We expect to see this happen in December 2022. A rumor about this also mentioned that this year, the S22 and S21 series, the Foldables from 2021 and 2022, as well as the Galaxy A53 will receive the update.

Here we list all Samsung phones that should receive the update to Android 13/One UI 5 based on three main sources: Samsung's firmware polices, history of updates and announcements made on the manufacturer's official pages. Below you will find the models divided by series.

One UI 5 beta test

Just like Apple and Google, Samsung has a testing program for those who want to actively participate in building the new version of the operating system by submitting feedback. The Android 13 beta testing program is already open and we prepared a guide on how you can sign up and participate in the development of One UI 5.

Samsung's beta testing program is open to all users, and is a chance to try out One UI's new features before the official launch. Right now, the One UI Beta Program is open to participants in China, Germany, India, Poland, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Also, only owners of Galaxy S22 series devices will be able to be part of the testing program now. Samsung is expected to expand the beta testing program to foldable models in the coming weeks.

Bear in mind that this list will be constantly updated with new devices and information concerning the operating system update schedule for Samsung smartphones. If your Galaxy smartphone is not on the list of devices eligible for update, don't worry, because this is not yet the official selection from Samsung – which should be published sometime between late November and early December.
