iPhone 12 price drops: Is it a good time to buy it?

For this article, we keep track of all the current iPhone 12 models. The smartphone line was released in 2020, bringing back some design cues from the popular iPhone 4 line, with straight metal edges.

T-Mobile iPhone 12 deals

Different from its main rivals, T-Mobile contracts are valid for 24 months, instead of 36. That way you are tied for less time, and also have the option to upgrade your phone sooner, although monthly costs may look higher, it is worth doing the math to see the total price over the contract's time.

AT&T iPhone 12 deals

AT&T plans are valid for 36 months, and both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini can be bought with monthly installments, or you can pay the full price upfront.

The carrier also offers an upgrade plan, called AT&T Next Up, that gives the option of upgrading to a newer model after paying for 50% of the device. And there is also a trade-in program for used devices that is worth checking out.

Unlocked iPhone 12 deals

As usual, iPhone prices rarely drop in the US, closely following Apple's suggested retail price (MSRP). For the iPhone 12 line, the original MSRP dropped $100 for the iPhone 12 and 12 mini models after the launch of the iPhone 13 family, and again after the iPhone 14 release.

The iPhone 12 is the only model available from Apple, priced at $599, with the 12 mini discontinued in September/2022, and no signs of a deal or new models in the following months. Therefore, if you are looking into buying an iPhone 12, there is little chance of falling prey to buyer's remorse. The iPhone 12 mini, however, although still available through third-party sellers, is priced above the regular model, and cannot be recommended.

Regarding the Pro models, both the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max were discontinued after the release of the iPhone 13 line. If you are really interested in the old phones, they can still be found in "renewed" versions. Otherwise, we recommend you check the iPhone 14 Pro models, with better cameras and a better OLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
